Pakistan’s leather industry recorded growth of 3.6% in export revenues in the first five months of the current financial year (July-November 2019), with the total amount reaching $371.6 million.
The value of leather footwear exports increased by 22.7% in value compared to the figure for the same five months of previous fiscal year, reaching $56.3 million this time.
Tanners exported a higher volume of finished leather, 7.6 million square-metres, an increase of more than 20%. However, the revenues this finished leather brought in fell by 18.8% to just under $88 million.
Leathergoods exports rose in value by 11.2% over the five-month period, reaching $227.4 million.
