In the first four months of 2025, Vietnam’s footwear and handbag exports increased by over 16%, according to its trade association Lefaso.
The country exports 90%-95% of the shoes it makes, with 40% going to the US.
A report in local media quoted Lefaso’s vice-chairwoman, Phan Thi Thanh Xuan, stating that Vietnam currently produces around half of Nike’s products and 30% of Adidas’s.
She added that although the country faced challenges including tariffs, and rising costs for raw materials, labour and logistics, she believed the country was still well-positioned to sustain its role as the world’s third largest footwear exporter.
