Spanish footwear exports are expected to end 2024 with growth after October showed more growth, according to the General Directorate of Customs.
Exports of Spanish footwear, grew by 10.9% in volume from January to October 2024 to 149 million pairs, while value improved by 7.8% to €2.96 billion. The average price of footwear for the period was €19.90.
Growth was seen across the main destinations, with Italy up by 42.2%, Germany growing 5.9%, Portugal improving by 8% and Poland with growth of 15.9%, while France had a decline of 5.8%.
Comparing exports for January-October 2024 with the same 10 months of pre-pandemic 2019, exports were up 10.2% in volume and 28.4% in value.
Footwear imports grew by 7.6% in the first 10 months of 2024 in volume to 293.1 million pairs, while value improved by 7.4% to €4.1 billion. The average price of imported footwear for the period was €14.
Imports from China were down by 7% in the year so far, while Vietnam grew by 32.3%, Italy climbed 6.7%, Indonesia was up 17.2% and Belgium had growth of 55%.
Comparing these imports against the same period of 2019, volume improved by 5.3% and value had an increase of 44.2%.
