Gucci, Kering’s flagship label, has acquired 100 per cent stake in historic Italian tanneries of Colonna Group to further strengthen its grip on its leather goods supply chain.
The luxury fashion previously held a 51 per cent stake in the Colonna Group located in Tuscany. Their tanneries are renowned for the leather craftsmanship and it comprises of three prestigious tanneries: Marbella Pellami, Conceria 800, and Falco Pellami.
In addition to this, Gucci also owns Caravel, another premium tannery at Tuscany. Caravel specialises in the supply and tanning of rare skins.
It also owns France Croco, a French tannery renowned for its expertise in crocodile leather.
These tanneries have been long-standing partners of Gucci, supplying the brand with high-quality leather for its coveted handbags, shoes, and other accessories.
This move comes after a long-standing partnership between the two entities.
By securing complete ownership of the Colonna Group, Gucci ensures continued access to the finest quality leathers and strengthens its commitment to “Made in Italy” craftsmanship, a cornerstone of the brand’s heritage.
