Sports brand Puma has launched a shoe designed, partly, using artificial intelligence (AI).
It said the new Inverse sneaker involved Puma designers bringing “feasibility, functionality, and reality” to an AI-made concept. The AI-made concept was built on models from the Puma archive.
Describing the process, lead product line manager, Scottie Gurwitz said: “Inverse is a deep dive into a new design mindset. Our goal was to bridge the human experience with experimental technology.”
He went on to explain that AI does not “abide by the same rules as human designers”, and insisted this could help design professionals “see things in new ways”.
