Leather Naturally has announced the appointment of Dr Kerry Senior to its Management Board, effective immediately. Dr Senior, who has served as Director of Leather UK since 2013, brings a wealth of expertise in leather industry advocacy, sustainability, and policy development.
In his role at Leather UK, Dr Senior oversees the secretariats for the Leather Producers’ Association, the Dr Dorothy Jordan Lloyd Memorial Trust, and the British Industry Development Trust. Since 2019, he has also served as secretary of the International Council of Tanners.
Dr Senior has been instrumental in reshaping Leather UK’s public relations strategy, addressing misconceptions about leather and highlighting its sustainability credentials. Notable achievements under his leadership include a survey on UK consumer attitudes towards leather, delivered in collaboration with Leather Naturally and the Institute for Creative Leather Technology.
His career includes nine years at the BLC Leather Technology Centre, where he worked on research projects funded by the UK and EU to tackle environmental and raw material challenges within the leather sector. Dr Senior also has a PhD in Microbiology from the University of Kent.
Following a vote by Leather Naturally members in early December 2024, Dr Senior was confirmed as a Management Board member, succeeding Debbie Burton, Director of Communications at the Leather Working Group.
