Starting from March 2025, chinchillas have been officially added as a new species under the Furmark-approved animal welfare certification. At present, Furmark-certified chinchillas are available through Crown D.O.O., a well-known chinchilla shipper that is also a SafeFur-certified dressing factory. There are currently 33 European chinchilla farms that have received certification, and the number is growing rapidly as more farms join the initiative. Additionally, IFF is actively negotiating with other chinchilla shippers to further expand the coverage of certification for this new species, ensuring a wider reach for the Furmark® animal welfare standards.
