Describing the export situation as “sluggish”, CLIA noted that only tariff numbers 4101 (raw bovine and equine hides) and 4102 (raw sheep or lamb skins) increased, both in volume and price.
All other leather-related exports were negative on the previous year.
Overall, leather exports increased by 4% year on year, taking the total export value of the 27 product categories CLIA considered in the report to around $64 billion.
