Leather Naturally has announced that World Leather Day 2025 will take place on Saturday, April 26, 2025, with this year’s theme titled "Beyond the Surface".
The campaign encourages a deeper understanding of leather as a material, addressing common misconceptions and highlighting its role in sustainability.
This year’s theme, “Beyond the Surface”, emphasises exploring leather’s characteristics, from its sustainable attributes to its long-lasting nature. Leather Naturally’s campaign will focus on three key pillars:
Transparency: Leather is derived from animal hides, a byproduct of the meat industry. Rather than contributing to waste, hides are transformed into durable goods, making leather a vital part of the circular economy. Educating consumers about leather’s origins encourages more responsible purchasing decisions
Sustainability: Leather is a natural, renewable material that can be repaired and repurposed over time. Its longevity minimises waste and reduces reliance on synthetic alternatives. By promoting the circular economy, leather contributes to a more sustainable future
Longevity: Genuine leather stands the test of time, often lasting decades. Unlike synthetic substitutes that degrade quickly, leather products can be maintained, repaired, and enjoyed for years, offering consumers lasting value.
To participate in World Leather Day 2025, Leather Naturally is inviting individuals and organisations to create and share content celebrating leather and promoting the “Beyond the Surface” message. This could include blogs, videos, and social media posts highlighting leather’s sustainability, transparency and durability.
Participants can download the World Leather Day 2025 logo and a “4 weeks to go” image for social media, and
sign up for the mailing list to receive a social media toolkit.
