Partners from the Erasmus+ “Learning Factories” project meet in Romania last week to finalise developments.
Representatives came from Spain, Portugal, Belgium, Poland, and Romania for the project, which aims to bring innovation, sustainability and hands-on learning to Europe’s leather goods sector.
The consortium has finalised four forward-looking curricula: Leather Goods Design for Circularity, AI Supporting Design and Pattern-Making, 3D Printing for Prototyping and Tools for Industrialisation and Digital Transformation of Manufacturing Operations.
The project’s attention now shifts to developing multilingual learning resources – featuring concise video modules and AI-driven content in English, Portuguese, Spanish, Polish and Romanian.
An app, tailored for use in workplace training, will deliver contextual, machine-learning-powered support that evolves based on real-world challenges faced by trainees. A newly launched digital scanning tool will further personalise learning by identifying individual training needs and guiding users to the most suitable curriculum.
To support implementation, the project will host two bootcamps in July 2025; one in Porto, Portugal, and another in Ubrique, Spain. These sessions will engage trainers, tutors and teachers in co-creating dynamic, work-based learning activities, reinforcing collaboration between companies and vocational education providers.
