The Leathersellers Livery Company, based in London, announced increased grant funding for 2026 during the annual leather industry dinner on June 5.

Master (Chair) of Leathersellers Nicholas Tusting announced the news during a speech at the dinner, which was attended by 90 guests covering the leather industry businesses and organisations as well as academic institutions and other livery companies.

He said: “I’m delighted to announce that next year we will be increasing our total grant-making to the industry. This funding will support a wide range of initiatives that include micro tanneries and apprenticeships in leathermaking, training for bookbinders and leatherworkers, research, teaching, and the broader promotion of UK tanners’ interests in partnership with Leather UK.”

Tusting also announced that the Livery Company will also be supporting a new location for the Leather Conservation Centre.

“With our support, the Leather Conservation Centre is moving into a new, state-of-the-art workshop in Leicester. This is a game changing outcome for a world-class institution that we have supported for many years and it will enable them not only to continue their conservation work but also, by working with partners such as De Montfort University, expand their research and teaching. The official opening will be on June 24,” he explained.
