Andreas Tepest, born 1966 in Germany, is the “Head of Global Quality Management” of theDEICHMANN SE, Europeans leading retailer for shoes. He is responsible for the global shoeproduction and product quality and also coordinates all social compliance and sustainableactivities, including the global BSCI audit program. Before he started his carrier at DEICHMANN in1996, Andreas Tepest worked as Production Manager at a leading shoe producer in Germany. Heis active in a number of national and international organizations, networks and projects e.g. asDeputy Chairman of the CADS-Cooperation at DSI, Member of the LWG-Leather Working Group,Member of national and international committees of DIN and ISO and also Member of the WMSworking group - the leading shoe size system for children shoes in Europe. After graduating fromGermans Shoe Technician School in Pirmasens, he studied Technical Business Administration atthe European Academy in Cologne. He is also a holder of the certificate as a REFA-Technician.REFA is the leading German association of organization in work design, industrial organizationand company development.
ABSTRACT
The globalized economy has not only brought benefits to improve the living quality of all walks oflives but at the same time generate increasing demand for enterprises to contribute tosustainable development through socially responsible business practices. To this end, globalsupply chain partners have been committed to work together to enhance the work environmentvia various forms of collaborations. The development approach and buyer-supplier partnershipmodel promulgated by BSCI Participating companies and their suppliers in key sourcing countriesare one of those valuable practices can bring fruitful results. This presentation will elaboratehow the approach has been undertaken with some examples of cases.
