Taking another step into the South Florida market, a St. Louis-based shoe retailer put its foot down on a 10th storefront in the Miami/Fort Lauderdale market.

Famous Footwear announced its newest location in Pompano Marketplace, which is located at 1257-59 S Federal Highway. The store opens July 16.

A grand opening is planned 10 days later July 26 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The event will feature an appearance by a WHYI-FM 100.7 (Y100) disc jockey and raffle drawings for free shoes.

Footwear retailer opens first store in Miami

President of Famous Footwear Rick Ausick said in a news release that the decision to open a new store in the area was based on a 'recognized customer need.'

Famous Footwear has more than 1,100 stores in the U.S. and is an affiliate of Brown Shoe Company.
