Footwear brand Puma has filed a legal opposition against Sun Day Red, Tiger Woods’ new apparel brand, claiming its logo is too similar to Puma’s leaping cat design.
The German sportswear company, which has used the leaping cat logo since 1969, submitted its objection to the US Patent and Trademark Office. Sun Day Red’s logo features a tiger outline with 15 lines, symbolising Tiger Woods’ major golf victories.
Puma argues the similarities could confuse consumers, citing the overlapping nature of the brands’ products. Sun Day Red, owned by TaylorMade, has faced prior challenges in trademarking its logo.
The dispute marks the second legal challenge involving Tiger Woods’ new brand.
