Brazilian exports of tanning extracts of vegetable origin, tannins and their salts other derivatives were down by 23% in 2024 to US$28 million.

According to data from IndexBox, exports have been down since 2017 after a peak of US$55 million in 2014 with year-on-year growth of 12%.
The main export destinations for Brazil produced tannin extracts were China (2,600 tons worth US$4.9 million), India (2,400 tons worth US$4.7 million) and Mexico (1,700 tons valued at US$3.1 million), which together made up 51% of exports. Italy, Germany, the UK, Japan and the U.S. made up another 21%.
The average price for exported vegetable tanning extracts from Brazil was US$2,138 per ton in 2021, a drop of 5.8% year-on-year.
