The International Union of Leather Technologists and Chemists Societies (IULTCS) has announced its new Vice-President and the recipient of its 2025 Merit Award.
Dr Giancarlo Lovato, of Italian chemical maker Corichem, has been elected as the new Vice-President of the IULTCS.
Nominated by the Italian Association of Leather Chemists (AICC), Dr Lovato brings extensive experience in both scientific research and organisational leadership.
His previous roles include Secretary of the AICC and Chair of the III IULTCS EuroCongress held in Vicenza in 2022. He currently serves as Chair of the IULTCS IUN Commission and has a significant body of published work and patents contributing to the advancement of leather science.
The IULTCS Merit Award for 2025 will be presented to Dr Patricia Casey of Argentina in recognition of her contributions to the leather industry and education.
Dr Casey is a former President of both the IULTCS and the Argentine Association of Leather Technologists and Chemists (AAQTIC).
She is widely respected for her work in promoting technological advancement and educational initiatives across Latin America.
The award will be formally presented at the IULTCS Congress Gala Dinner on September 10, 2025.
